How to prepare a kadale bele payasam

Kadale bele payasam is quite regular pujas  festivals like janmashtami  and Shiva rather and other special occasions including family functions also quit common for launch served in temples . 
 There are two version  - one with rice added to this payasam ( called akki  , kadale bele payasam which many think taste better )  
  Kadale bele  is high protein and deity giber  content and it can act as a good source of carbohydrates for people .
Suffering form diabetes    kadale bele is low on fat and most of it is polyunsaturated  fat which is known to reduces the risk of hart disease
.
Preparation time : 1 hours
Cooking time : 30 minutes .
Serving members : 4 members .  

The ingredients of preparing kadale bele payasam :
  •      Kadale bele - 1 cup 
  •  Jiggery - 3/4 to 1 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup 
  • Poppy Seeds ( khus khus )  - 3 tsp
  • Ghee 1 tsp
  • Chew nuts - 8-10 
  • Cardamom - 2 
  • Raisins - 8 to 10 

South Indian Kdale bele payasam .

Preparation :  

  1. wash the kadale bele . Soak the dal/bele in 2 cups of  water for 15 minutes then pressure cook chana dal in the same water used for soaking , until you hear about 2 whistles .
  2. Grind the poppy seeds coconut and cardamom  with little water in a mixer grinder to a smooth  paste . 
  3. In a visual , add jiggery and 1 cup of water (you may use the same water used for cooking the dal/bele if you like )  and heat until the jiggery melts . once a jiggery melts , add coconut paste from stop 2 cooked chana dal for stop 1 and again cook all these ingredients for 5-6 minutes . Remove form the flame .
  4. heat the ghee in anther frying pan ,  add cashew nuts , raisins and fry them until the cashew nuts turns golden brown  in colour . 
  5. Now add fired cashew nuts and raisins to the above  payasam mixers . 
Now the kadale bele payasa or chana dal payasam is ready to serve .
