How to prepare a sweet Ragi Halwa or Ragi Mani

Ragi/ Millet is most well Known for its rich calcium content then any other cereals . In South Indian it is the most common food fed for growing children . This is even given as one of first cereals to babies for its rich nutrition filled with calcium and iron and protein content .

The indigents of prepare Ragi :

  1. Ragi - 2 cup 
  2. Jaggery - 2-3 cups 
  3. Coconut milk - 1 cup
  4. Cardamom powder - 1 tsp 
  5. salt to taste . 
  6. Ghee - 1 cup 

Preparation :

  • Soak Ragi in water for  2-3 hours 
  • Take above all ingredients in a mixer grinder with little water . 
  • Grind it  till smooth paste . 
  •  Strain through of a fine sieve ans squeeze out to exert milk from that . 
  • Cook in a heavy bottom  pan , tarring constantly till it becomes thick and transparent . 
  • Add ghee , cardamom powder  and  mix well   
  • When Halwa consistency is reached remove from fire and pour on a greased plate . Cut it to Required shape . 
Ragi Mani/ Ragi Halwa is ready to serve to ghee .
